Our tickets were purchased yesterday for our trip to Malaysia to visit my parents. (They are there for my dad's work and will come back to Oregon probably at the end of the year.) The kids and I will be leaving the end of April for about two weeks. Sadly, Jake won't be coming with us. (He wants to come probably more than any of us do!) There is no way he can be gone from work for another two weeks though, on top of the two weeks he's taking off to study and take the bar, another week for a mining conference in May, and a few days for scout camp in June. We're definitely going to miss him! My sister, Whitney, is flying with us so that will be nice to get some extra help with the kids. Am I nuts to even consider flying across the ocean with a 9 month old??! I just feel bad for those suckers sitting in row 34. They are going to have a great flight, watching (and listening) to three kids, confined to their seats for 14 straight hours. Oh well. It will be worth it. Ben is already asking me all kinds of questions about Malaysia. Emma's biggest concern is whether or not she will get to wear her new pink swimsuit with hearts while she is there. Yes, she is definitely a "girl!" As long as Josh is within arms length of my boobs, he should be fine. We are excited to see my parents and stay with them at their condo. It will be neat to visit all the places they have told us about and meet the members in their branch. Now I just need to work this baby gut off before we leave so I can smash myself into my swimsuit! I better come back with a tan. I'm craving nice weather now more than ever, with all these Utah blizzards we've been having. 80 degrees, a little humidity, and a slight breeze sounds perfect!

Can I say JEALOUS! Well not the flying 14 hrs with three little kiddies part, but the part where you get to hang out in Mylasia. Have you already got the kids passports? Take lots of pictures for us boring people who won't be going any where fun.
Here is to ADVENTURE! Your kids will look back and think, my mom was amazing...and you are!
We sent off the passport applications yesterday and should get them in 4-6 weeks, so we have plenty of time. You should have seen me holding Josh up, trying to get a picture that would work on his passport. It was quite hilarious. After about the 30th take (I'm not kidding!) we got one that worked.
Nancy, thanks for your confidence in me. It will definitely be a vacation for the centuries. It's going to be hard seeing all these cool places without Jake, though. I guess I will have to make it up to him for his 30th birthday next year!
if you could please smash my extremely unflexible body into your suit case, it would be appreciated....or you can just pay for my ticket. That would be great, thanks ;-)
You ARE crazy!!!! But in a good way! Sounds like so so so much fun, but it is too sad Jake can't come. Good luck with that plane ride... holy cow.
Oh, that's so amazing! I WISH I could go, too. But, I would rather travel with the husband & without the kids... It will be a fun adventure!
That is sooo exciting! I bet you and the kids will have a blast. Sure is sad that Jake can't come... that stinks. My friend Heather just moved into your parents' ward, so make sure you say hi to her for me.
How cool is that?! That will be such a neat experience for your kids. I can't wait to see the pictures and good luck with the plane ride!
I'm excited Jamie!... not exactly for the plane right to mirror what everyone else has said, but that'll be an experience too. I'm excited to see what Ben thinks of it once he sees such different places than he's used to. Emma will be fun just watching her swim in her new swimsuit. (:
That is so exciting! It will be fun to have that memory in your bank and also for the kids. Do you guys have to get any crazy vaccines or anything before you go?
How fun Jamie! Chaunceys parents are goingto singapore for 3 years in a year, Aso we are excited to visit them then! We took little chauncey when he was 5 months old to Paris. That was about 11-12 hours flight time. He threw up all over the guy next to us, and I didn't have any other children(obvioously) SO good luck! I can't wait to hear and see all about it!
love,
mel
So cool, Jamie, I am jealous! Malaysia would be so cool!
So fun Jamie! Your kids ( the ones old enough) will always look back and remember their trip.
Holy Macaroni!! I have to give you a huge "Hooray!" That is going to be so amazing to go see Malaysia!! How fun to go be with your family! I know it sounds crazy but I would totally do it too!! However, I would recommend purchasing a few bottles of extra-strength benedryl for that 14 hour plane ride:) I'm sure that the rest of the plane will thank you tremendously for it! :0) I am sorry that Jake can't go. Take lots of pictures!!!
We are in for the get together! We want to see your new house. Tell Jake good luck on the bar. I bet he can't wait to have it over with (and you too!)
