So, my first day at the gym was last Thursday. Kenton, my trainer, worked me so hard I almost puked. He said that's a good sign, but doesn't want me getting sick. (That tells you how out of shape I am!) He gave me a schedule to stick to (warm-up on the treadmill for 5 mins. to get the heart rate up, then do weight training which is super hard, then this week my cardio workout is on the treadmill, which again, the intervals he has me doing are pretty rough.) I felt great Thursday, was dripping with sweat and 100% motivated. I came back Friday on my own. My arms were pretty sore, but I worked through it and finished my workout. Even though I could barely put Josh into the car seat because my arms were so sore, I was ecstatic and couldn't wait to go back Monday (I took the weekend off to rest my very sore muscles.) I set-up the daycare for the kids at 10:30am and was counting the hours to head down there. Then... I got SICK! I've been sick all day today. You name it, I have it. Now you ask, is this a cruel joke? I think so! What a way to put a damper on my week. I'm nauseous, have a fever, been in the bathroom probably 30 times today (no joke!), runny nose, and my throat hurts. I have no energy and feel like death (probably look it too... hence, no pics.) Now, how did I get this lovely virus, or whatever it is? From my adorable son, Josh. He puked on Jake three times Saturday night, and then twice in the car. He was sick all day yesterday, and again today. Jake wasn't feeling too hot yesterday, but he seems to be the only lucky one here with it lasting just a mere couple hours. I hate being sick, but the worst part is seeing your child sick and not be able to do much about it. I plan on taking him to the dr if this doesn't clear in another day or two.
Kenton has me counting calories (something I have never really done in my life.) I'm supposed to eat a max of 1500/day. Just to tell you how sick I am, today I ate approximately 220 calories (and I feel like I ate 3200!) I'm really hoping and praying this is only a 24 hour thing so I can get back to work on Wednesday but I'm doubting that will happen. Let's just cross our fingers the other two kids don't get it!
If you think about it, please send healthy vibes our way (and don't plan on visiting for awhile!) We don't want to pass any of this lovely goodness on to you.

You POOR thing! I feel so bad for you and little Josh. I hope you both recover quickly.
Sending HEALTHY VIBES from Penang. :)
Get Better!
I'm sorry your sick, James! But I'm so excited for you to get into shape! I'm running everyday (except Sunday) and I feel really good about myself right now. It's a great feeling, so get over this awful virus so you can kick some trash at the gym!
Just think about it this way: You'll start off your first week at the gym by loosing more weight than you thought with all that throwing up stuff. Sorry though! That really stinks!!! We had the stomach flu two weeks ago and are currently in the sore throat cold stage. So, not too many heathy vibes to give you :)
Jamie, I'm so proud of you for your diligence and SO sorry for the lovely illness -- it sounds like a real gem. Please let me know when you're all better so we can hang out. Seriously, I'm having major withdrawals.
I'm so sorry Jamie. That is definitely one to keep to yourself. But way to go on the excercise! You're making me jelous and I'm not planning on serious excercise until I am sleeping through the night. (May it happen soon.)
awe jamie--that is brutal. I hope that you are up and at it soon. I was so excited to read that you want to do the salt lake 1/2 next year. I want to run with you! I know you can do it by the way...you are super amazing, and who knows maybe you'll develop my race addiction :)Send me some Kenton hints whenever you can!! Good Work!
Sorry you are sick Jamie, I'll pray for your fast recovery and that the others in the fam don't get it!
Hope you are soon feeling better and Josh as well. We also hope the rest don't get it. Teresa had it for about 24 hours is all and she said that was enough. Great job with the gym thing. I am proud of you.
Love you,
Grammy
I hope by now you are feeling better! Just wanted to pop and give you major props for starting to work out. It's not easy - I've started and stopped a dozen times already this year, haha. Good luck with all your training!
