The Google spreadsheet is HERE.  Click on it and make sure to put an X on the days you follow through.

Message to my 100 Day Challenge Participants:  Just a reminder- We have 8 days until this challenge is OVER.  Part of the 100th post is sharing your successes over the past three months.  Please send me your updates, measurements, pictures, (whatever you want to share).  You can post them as a comment, Facebook them to me, or email them.  I need all the updates by Tuesday, June 7th @ 5pm MST.  I will share them all on Wednesday, June 8th.  I've already heard from 4 participants.  Can't wait to hear from the rest of you!  And remember to keep pushing these last couple days!

My Daily Update: I told my friend, Selena I would babysit her twins today and so did about a 30 minute workout at home.  50 deep prisoner squats.  50 burpees.  400 ab reps (8 exercises of 50, alternating with my stability ball). 20 alligator push-ups.  Ended with plank holds, and then stretching.  I'm worried about the race on Saturday.  I've been coughing up stuff and my breathing isn't normal.  Hoping this clears up by Saturday!

My Comments to You:

Jenni- Congrats on your pg!  When are you due?

My Daily Update: Happy Memorial Day, everyone!  Went to Body Combat at 9:30am, along with everyone else in Davis county.  Our Gold's Gym was packed!  Great to see so many gym friends in the class.  Loved it!  I pushed myself hard, despite still dealing with breathing issues.  I can't seem to get rid of this chest cold/cough.  Hoping I'll be better by Saturday for the 10K.  Cardio and weights tomorrow morning, Wednesday I'll do a treadmill run, Thursday is weights & the first half of combat (Emma's kindergarten graduation is at 10:30 and Combat ends at 10:45am so I can't stay for the whole class), taking Friday off to rest my body for the race, then Saturday is the 10K.  Can't wait!!

Day 90- 100 Day Challenge

Day 90, ONLY 10 days left...  We're almost done!
The Google spreadsheet is HERE.  Click on it and make sure to put an X on the days you follow through.

Better Health Article: None, it's the weekend!

Ab workout- None, it's the weekend!

My Daily Update: Hard to believe there are only 10 days left to this challenge... which means 9 days left of my twenties.  Time to live it up.  ;)  Since we really have no money but still were desperate for a vacation, we decided to hit the road and enjoy a little nature drive.  We wanted to drive the Alpine Loop but found out it was closed.  To our surprise, Timpanogos Cave opened only 2 days ago so we lucked out!  We took the whole fam and hiked the 1.5 miles, 1200 feet in elevation.  For some reason that hike seemed a lot easier the last time I did it... 20 years ago. ;)  The kids did so great and we made it to the cave entrance 20 minutes before our tour was supposed to start.  Ben and Emma really enjoyed learning about stalagmites and stalactites.  Josh enjoyed it for awhile but then the last 5 minutes was anxious to get out.  It was a beautiful hike and something fun the whole family could do together.  There was a family we saw on the way back down, changing their little daughter's diaper right there on the trail in 45 degree weather.  It made me think how nice it is that our kids are all fairly independent and we can do stuff like this without having to worry about naps and feedings and diapers.  We are in a new stage with our family and I'm really liking it.  ;)

The Google spreadsheet is HERE.  Click on it and make sure to put an X on the days you follow through.

Better Health Article: Become a member of TEAM JAMIE by either running or donating.  The race is Saturday, June 4th, only 9 days away!  So far there 8 are running either the 5K or 10K, and we had one donation from my friend (and studio mom), Corinne Halls.  Click HERE and then click on the link that says "Join Team".  It's not too late to join the race or make a donation.

Ab workout- My sister introduced me to THIS site.  She said her friend's cousin had a baby and complained of having a flabby tummy.  Now she has a very defined 6 pack with a tiny waist and all she did was eat 1200-1400 healthy cals/day, and do the workouts from THIS website that are posted daily for free.  The workouts are between 12-30 minutes and they mix strength training and cardio.  I would die to rock Zuzana's body.  I've decided to follow her workouts the next 11 days and see what happens.  Anyone else up for it?

My Daily Update: Boy today has been busy.  I was at the high school until 9pm last night helping with the dress rehearsal for the recital, then I was up until almost midnight cutting some recital music that wasn't done right the first time.  I woke up at 7am and kept trying to make the one cut better and realized I needed GarageBand 11 to do what I wanted, so finally at 8:30am said "Oh well."  Got in the shower, got myself ready, got Emma ready, ate breakfast, then headed out the door.  I was at the school again from 11am-4pm for the recital.  It was a wonderful afternoon and the dancers were amazing.  The show ran smoothly and even ended 18 minutes early (a first, I think!)  The Mini Co team mom helped me collect money for gifts for our two directors.  Little did I know, she bought me something too with the money.  ($50 to a spa and $50 to the Gateway Mall.  Can't wait to spend it on my birthday!)  The highly anticipated Mom Dance went great.  I'm not a dancer and don't claim to be one, but it was still fun to get out there and shake it a little.  When I did that back-handspring I almost felt like a 15 year old again... almost.  Hard to believe the season is over.  We get one week off, then back to the studio for the 2011-2012 competition teams audition.  Crazy.  I'm really looking forward to this week off!  Hope everyone is having a nice Memorial Day weekend.  Only 11 days left.  Push hard these last few days!

My Comments to You:

Ash- Don't worry about the workouts.  I think Zuzana's website is just fine.  Glad I'm not the only one who knows you have a rockin' body.  Fun when people notice.  That's awesome!

My Daily Update: Just got back from walking around the zoo for an hour and a half with Emma's kindergarten class.  The kids had a great time, and I did too.  Today is crazy, though.  I have my friend coming over in 30 minutes.  Then I have to head down to the studio to pick up some last-minute things, then head to the high school for the dress rehearsal for the recital.  I will be there from 3:30-9:30pm.  Tomorrow is the recital, and then it's over... for one week, then auditions for next season.  Busy weekend.  I'm sure I'll post some video clips from the recital tomorrow night.  See you then!

My Daily Update: Went to Combat today and I felt better than I did yesterday, but I'm still not 100%.  Hoping I'll be there by Saturday for Emma's recital.  It took me forever to fall asleep last night.  I was coughing and wheezing.  Yuck!  Reminds me of how I spent the 8 months before we found out about the tumor.  Thankful that this is only a cold and will be gone soon, and not something I have to deal with for 8 months straight.  That was miserable!  Tomorrow I'm a volunteer in Emma's kindergarten class.  We are going to the zoo so walking around the zoo with a bunch of 5 and 6 year olds is going to be my workout.  Fun and busy weekend planned!

My Daily Update: Finally made it back to the gym today.  My lungs feel horrible.  I've been wheezing and coughing a ton and it's really hard to do anything strenuous.  I ran a slow 1/2 mile to warmup, then went to the Body Attack class, and it kicked my butt.  I couldn't push myself like I normally do because my lungs felt so bad.  Hopefully it doesn't last very long.  I want to be 100% for the race in 10 days!

My Comments to You:

Ash- Thanks for the site.  I really like it!  If I had abs like Zuzana, I would be showing them off too. ;)  If you want to do a video, I can post it.  Don't stress though if you don't have time.  I can always just post her site everyday and have us just do her workouts.

Ab workout- Lose the Love Handles with oblique crunches

My Daily Update: Went to dance practice last night and the whole time felt like someone was sitting on my chest.  Woke up at 2:45am and couldn't get back to sleep until nearly 5am.  I've been coughing and my lungs burn when I breathe.  Thankfully I don't have a fever and my stomach feels fine, just my lungs.  Figure I'll probably always get sick first in my lungs now, or maybe it's just I'll notice it a lot more because of the lack of lung tissue.  Either way it stinks.  Cancelled my time at the gym and have been relaxing at home, just taking it easy.  I did do ab work with my stability ball, some light weight arm exercises, and I rolled and stretched my legs.  Don't really want to count that as my workout today, but I'm going to.  Hopefully this down time will get me back to 100% really soon.

My Comments to You:

Kim- Glad you're checking back in.  15 more days left.  I know you can do it!  Are you still planning on signing up for the Fight for Air race on June 4th?  Thanks for the congrats.  Not completely into all 4s yet, but much closer than I was 3 months ago.  I'm happy!

Better Health Article: 15 Biggest Nutrition Myths

Ab workout-

My Daily Update: Alarm didn't go off this morning for Combat at 5:30am so figured I would just go to the 9:30am class.  I felt a migraine coming around 8am and was basically stuck on the couch, nauseous for nearly 2 hours.  I downed some Excedrine migraine right when I felt it coming and that helped it not get full-blown.  I still felt sick until around lunch time, and even now I still don't feel 100%.  My lungs haven't felt great either.  I've been coughing and wheezing a lot and think it might be allergies.  Yuck!  Way to start out a Monday.  I'm going to count dance practice tonight from 8-9pm as my workout and call it good.  Hoping tomorrow will be much better.  I had one goal today and it was to clean out my closet.  I tried on nearly everything I own this afternoon and surprisingly, had to put about 2/3 of it in the DI/give to friends pile because the stuff was too big.  Exciting!  Last May I was a big size 8 and after my surgery I was a small 8/big 6.  That's where I was at when I started this challenge and I'm happy to report I am down to a small 6/big 4.  Woot woot!  The best was finding this Gap size small jacket I bought 2 years ago at DI.  I remember loving it but at the time could only button 2 out of 3 buttons without it looking too tight.  I bought it anyway, hoping I would get small enough to eventually be able to fit in it.  Well, I pulled it out, buttoned all three buttons, and it was a perfect fit.  Couldn't believe it.  YAY!

My Comments to You:

Annie- Glad you're hanging in there.  Know what you mean about the time-factor.  Always wish there was more of it in a day.  So glad Dave is home on the weekends now.  My brother-in-law is the track coach at Herriman High School and my sister-in-law was telling me just yesterday how there were 5 days in a row that she never even saw her husband.  Track ended last weekend though so they are also feeling some relief.  Family bike rides sound awesome!  Good luck on your runs this week.

Better Health Article: None, it's the weekend!

Ab workout- None, it's the weekend!

My Daily Update: No workouts on Sunday.  Ate oatmeal with some milk for breakfast.  Went to church, came home, and had a small serving of leftover spaghetti, some watermelon, and two homemade chocolate chip cookies (my weekend splurge.)  For my afternoon snack had some apple slices.  Took a 2 hour nap this afternoon.  Hopefully I'll still be able to get to sleep tonight.  Heading to my in-laws for dinner in about an hour.  Nice relaxing day.  Up for this week: Monday- Combat, Tuesday- Lower body weights with my trainer and cardio, Wed- cardio & weights, Thurs- Combat,  Fri- maybe spin class and weights.  Saturday is Emma's dance recital and then she is done with dance until July.  I'm excited for the recital and can't wait to see her routines one more time (and a new one her class has been learning to Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair".)  I'm also performing in the "Mom Dance" too which will be fun.  Busy week planned.  What about you guys?  Had to mention one more thing.  Yesterday when I was waiting for the Mom Dance practice outside the Crossfit 22 gym, I saw this guy running pushing a jogging stroller with one hand, and carrying two leashes (and yes, they both had dogs on them.)  Holy cow!  No way would I go running like that.  Kudos to THAT guy.

Day 82- 100 Day Challenge

Only 18 days left!!

So, our Internet has been down basically the whole day. Dumb Comcast! I'm on my iPhone now and so this post isnt going to be like my normal posts. Just wanted to check in and see how my Ogden racers did today.

Daily Update: I went running with my friend, Meighan this morning around 6:30am. It was perfect outside. Not too hot or too cold. My only complaint was the headwind on the last 3 miles, but I'll take that over sun beating down on us. We ran 6 miles in 1:04. This was the longest distance I've run since before my surgery last summer and it felt pretty good. My lungs felt strong and I loved my new shoes. I had two issues though. 1. My left hip. Started feeling pain around 2 or 3 miles and it never went away. Figure it is from my tight quad and IT band. I've been rolling multiple times a day. I should probably ice too. Any other suggestions? 2. My digestive tract. About 30 minutes or so after running my stomach was hurting and I ended up going #2 3 or 4 times. (tmi, I know) I've had this problem before and obviously never really figured out the problem. Would love some suggestions about that, too. Overall, though, I thought it was a good run and I'm excited for the Fight For Air 10k in 2 weeks!

Hope everyone is pushing hard these last 2 1/2 weeks. Only 18 more days left!!!

Better Health Article: "Does It Work?" Part 2: Exercise Programs- Thought this site did a good job of reminding us that everyone is different and what works for one person might not work for another.

Ab workout- I saw this video on FB yesterday and knew I had to post it here.  What an inspiration.  This guy lost 170 lbs. doing P90X.  I've never done the program, but have heard great things about it.  There is a routine in P90X called the "Ab Ripper X".  Sounds intense.  Google it to learn more.

My Daily Update: My legs have been pretty tight the past couple days and with my long run tomorrow I figured I needed to give my body a rest today.  I plan to do some ab work with my stability ball, and roll and stretch but that's it.  Tomorrow at 6am I'm running 6 miles with my friend, Meighan.  We will see how it goes.  This is the first time I've run that far since before my surgery.  Excited to see how my Nike Frees hold up too.  Then from 10am-12pm I'm going to dance practice.  All the competition team moms at our studio are performing a dance at the end-of-year recital on May 28th.  It's about 3 minutes long and has some jazz and hip hop in it.  I'm having so much fun learning the dance and getting into the choreography.  Emma is getting a kick out of her mom doing a dance.  She loves to watch me practice.  Silly girl!  Hopefully I don't embarrass her too much. ;)  Also, good luck to all my Ogden Marathon friends tomorrow.  You guys are going to do great!

My Comments to You:

Ash- It stinks when our bodies get older and our metabolism isn't what it used to be.  Mine went out the window a long time ago so I've pretty much come to terms with it.  Us mamas just have to push harder if we want the same results that we were able to get easily (once upon a time.)  Wish I could be there to run Helvetia with you guys.  Glad your running is coming along.  H2C is going to be awesome!  You better make sure someone takes pics.

My Daily Update: (Loved both the website and the ab exercises from Day 78 so I'm keeping them up one more day.)  My legs have been so tight today.  Yikes.  Need to stretch and roll more!  I went to the Body Combat class at 9:45am today and it was AWESOME.  I don't know what was up but I felt really good.  I had taken an allergy pill an hour before so maybe that helped, I don't know?  My lungs felt strong.  I wasn't really struggling too much to breathe and my left arm is getting better so I was able to punch harder and and no pain!  I really pushed hard today and was a sweaty mess after the class.  LOVE days like today.  Just wish they happened all the time.

My Comments to You:

Leslie- I checked out your website for the Altra Intuition and I wish I would have known they were at Wasatch Running!  I was there two weeks ago and was given a pair of Asics and Brooks to try and that was it.  I went with the Asics Speedstar and didn't love them so brought them back.  Anyway, next time I definitely will try them.  Do you think SL Running Co will get them?  Just thinking about distance I have to drive.

Day 79, ONLY 21 days left...  Exactly THREE WEEKS!!!

Better Health Article: Welcome to Good Form Running- This site was recommended to me by the guy at the Salt Lake Running Co.  Some pointers to help runners maintain good form, which helps increase ease and speed of running, and helps decrease likelihood of injuries.

Ab workout- Top 10 Most Effective Ab Exercises- Check out these exercises.  I've done all except #5.  Love them all.  #10 is a great total body exercise.  Biggest Loser contestants hold planks for 2 minutes.  Can you?!

My Daily Update: (Loved both the website and the ab exercises from yesterday so I'm keeping them up another day.)  I ran 3 easy miles today in 32 minutes, then did a few minutes of body attack but realized I REALLY needed to stretch and roll my legs out.  My IT bands have been so tight from yesterday's strength training and my calves have been really sore, too.  So did 300 ab reps, then spent the last 10 minutes rolling and stretching.  OUCH!  I almost screamed out loud when I was rolling my left IT band.  It hurts so good. ;)  Don't want to jump the gun too quick on my "shoe verdict" but wanted to give you my first impression of the Nike Frees... I'm liking them.  A lot.  They feel weightless, but still give me the support I need.  Toe box is plenty wide enough so my toes have room to move and breathe.  Didn't feel any constriction.  I was really concentrating on relaxing my upper body, loosening up my hands, my midfoot strike, and taking shorter strides and it felt pretty effortless in these shoes.  Yep, I'm liking them.  The big test will be on Saturday when I take them outside for my 6 miler.  Will update again.

My Comments to You:

Annie- Yep, Ash is a total hot mama. ;)  Don't get down on yourself.  The last thing I want is for people to feel guilt about not meeting their goals and then just not do it (which is the opposite of why I even started this whole challenge.)  If anything, I hope that those who are participating have been made more aware of their own lifestyle and have seen areas they can improve.  Cause let's face it, we all can do better, right?!  Like you said, just do the best you can.  Baby steps.  And I'm sure when life calms down a little bit, those baby steps will get bigger and bigger and you will accomplish every goal you set for yourself.  For now, just set little goals and celebrate each success.  Honestly, I know I couldn't do this if I was nursing a little one and not getting enough sleep every night.  SO hard!  But remember that even if you're not out there exercising every day, you can still watch what you eat and make healthier choices.  We can all do that!  Keep checking in and keep going.  Wish we lived closer so I could take your kids for the afternoon or make you dinner or something.  I can only imagine how crazy life is for you right now.  Keep it up, sister!

Better Health Article: Welcome to Good Form Running- This site was recommended to me by the guy at the Salt Lake Running Co.  Some pointers to help runners maintain good form, which helps increase ease and speed of running, and helps decrease likelihood of injuries.

My Daily Update: I met with my trainer this morning and we worked lower body... again.  My arm is feeling a little better but I'm wanting to leave it alone for at least another week or so to give it more time to heal.  For my workout we started out with squats on the machine with 50 lbs on it.  Yikes!  Then these "up and over" things on the bench.  10 on my right, then 10 on my left.  Then back to the squats.  Did three rounds of that.  Then did 20 box jumps, landing in a squat on the bench, then straight into 30 in-n-outs (core work), then 20 deep switch lunges.  Did three sets of those.  Then I did 20 minutes of cardio on the bike, 10 minutes of foam rolling and stretching, and then had to pick up the kids from the daycare.  I'm missing my arm workouts and just don't want to lose any muscle I've built up these past couple months.  Excited to try out my Nike Frees tomorrow!

My Comments to You:

Ash-  Check out the Better Health Article.  Learning more about the mechanics of running and better form will help you be more aware of your stride and hopefully get you running more efficient.  Sorry you're having some weird foot issues when you run.

Crystal- My first run with my shoes is tomorrow and I'm doing a long run outside with a friend on Saturday so that will be the true test.  I'll keep you posted.

Hailey- So glad you posted!  I've been wondering how you've been doing, especially with the move and everything.  Glad to hear you like your Nikes.  Hoping they are my dream shoes, too.  I'm interested to hear what you did for your cleanse.  I wish I could do H2C with you and Ash.  Sounds so awesome!  Glad you're liking the core posts.  I think that's something that EVERYONE can work on.  Can't wait to hear where you're at in a couple more weeks.  Are you running by yourself or with someone?

Day 77- 100 Day Challenge

Day 77, ONLY 23 days left...
The Google spreadsheet is HERE.  Click on it and make sure to put an X on the days you follow through.

Better Health Article: (I'm leaving this up one more day so all my Monday peeps see it.) My friend, Stephanie has become a Health Coach and helps people who are serious about getting in shape.  If you're interested, check out her website HERE.

Ab workout- For my pregnant participants, this video is for you!

My Daily Update: My friend, Meighan, and I went to the 5:30am Body Combat class today.  Loved it!  My left arm still hurts so I can't do hard punches on that side, but other than that, I felt really good... especially for it being that early in the morning.  So I went to Famous Footwear and returned my Nikes.  Then I went to a local running store in Bountiful called DeBoer's.  Turns out they're not open on Mondays.  What the heck?!  Then I went to Wasatch Running and returned my Asics.  Researched this other store called Ossine and saw they have a really strict return policy, so then I headed back to Salt Lake Running Co.  My mission was to get some freakin' running shoes today!  Right when I walked into the store I saw this young kid and I immediately turned the other way.  I'm horrible, I know.  He seriously looked young enough to be my kid... well, maybe not that young, but you get the picture.  I made my way to the women's shoe section and this guy named Joel who looked like he was maybe mid to late 30s (at least older than ME!) showed up.  Shot out a few questions and got some great answers and felt he knew what he was talking about.  He measured my foot, then had me run on the treadmill and recorded my heel placement and gait.  I don't pronate on my left and barely on my right.  Explained my running/shoe history and that I was looking for something neutral and light, and he disappeared in the back and brought me 6 pairs of shoes to try on.  I tried on some Saucony Kinvaras, Nike Free 2s, New Balance, K-Swiss, Newtons, and some that looked like boats but actually felt light as a feather.  I ran on the treadmill with the Sauconys, Nikes, and Newtons and I finally went with... drumroll please... the Nike Free 2s.  I loved how unrestrictive they felt.  They are so light but still give me some support where I need it.  I'm REALLY hoping these are the shoes.  Wednesday's run will be the big test.  The only negative thing about the Nike Frees is they are more like a barefoot shoe, there isn't as much support and cushioning and they wear out quicker.  Hoping they still do a good job at the end of the summer when I run the Hobble Creek Half Marathon.

Day 76- 100 Day Challenge

Ab workout- None, it's the weekend!

My Daily Update: It's Sunday, my day of rest and relaxation.  I took a 1.5 hour nap today and it felt heavenly.  Up for this week: Monday-Body Combat, Tuesday-weight session with my trainer and some cardio, Wednesday-run, Thursday-Combat, Friday or Saturday-long run, Saturday from 10am-12pm- Mom Dance practice.

We are getting down to the end of this Challenge now and I have heard from a few of you who haven't done as well as you would have liked the past 2 1/2 months.  I CHALLENGE you these next 24 day, 3 1/2 weeks.  No more regrets and NO MORE excuses!  Feel like you accomplished something at the end of this thing.  When it gets hard, don't stop.  It's in those tough moments when you realize how strong you really are.  If you give up, you will never change and you will never grow.  I didn't lose 35 lbs., run a couple half marathons, and recover well from lung surgery by sitting on my butt and saying "I WISH I would have stuck with it.  I WISH I would have done more."  You need to stop with the excuses and find the motivation to push yourself.  Find the motivation to put the candy bar or soda down.  Find the motivation to wake up at 6am and jog around the block.  Find the motivation to skip the trip to McDonald's and fix a healthy sandwich.  It's in you.  I know it is.  You just have to find it.  And I promise you it is WORTH it.  I've had so many moments the past few years that remind me that healthy=happy.  The first time I ran 5 minutes without stopping.  Going sledding with my extended family and not huffing and puffing up the hill and being able to keep up with my kids.  When I realized I needed more clothes because my "skinny" clothes were too big.  When I crossed the finish line of my first 10K just 2 months after picking up running.  Crossing the finish line of my first Half Marathon.  Crossing the finish line of my second Half Marathon and beating my first half marathon time by 17 minutes.  Dead lifting 200 lbs.  Passing up the Easter candy because it "just didn't look good."  Walking over 2 miles in the hospital just 3 days out of lung surgery.  This is happiness.  Being healthy brings me joy.  And I just know if you push yourself you will have many "happy moments" too!  Can't wait to hear all your healthy, happy moments at the end of this challenge.  For those of you who are still going strong, way to go.  100 days is a long time to stick with something, especially if you weren't already in a routine to begin with.  Everyone push yourself a little harder.  24 days left...

My Comments to You:

Steph-The last couple years I've worn Brooks, New Balance, and Asics.  My last pair were the Asics SpeedStar and I've loved them.  I'm hoping tomorrow I can find another great pair.  How much longer until you can start exercising regularly again?

Ab workout- None, it's the weekend!

My Daily Update: I fell asleep around 9pm last night because I was so exhausted.  My arm was hurting and my right leg felt a little sore.  I was supposed to be at work this morning at 8:45am and decided my body needed rest so I didn't do my long run.  Figured two days this week with my trainer, Body Combat 2 other days, and 5 miles on Wednesday was good.  I need to get my new shoes before I do another long run so that's on my to-do list for Monday.  I went to work this morning, then the fam took my sister Whitney out to lunch, then I went out with my girlfriends for pedicures, Thai food, and dessert to celebrate Amber's and Selena's birthdays.  Love you girls!  Tomorrow is church and a relaxing day with the fam.  Looking forward to unwinding.

My Comments to You:

Heidi-  I'm so excited for you!  Way to hit your goal!  I'm a huge believer in counting calories.  It forces you to be aware of everything you put into your mouth.  Can't wait to hear how Ogden goes!  I'll be rooting you on!

Ash- Great job on your 12K!  Wish I could have been there to cheer you on.  You're going to kick butt in H2C!  I was thinking about trying some Nike Frees.  On Monday I'm going to the SL Running Company and plan to try on every shoe they sell until I find the magic one!  Hard thing is, it's hard to know if it's perfect until you've ran in them a few times.  I always get shoes one size bigger than what I wear because my feet tend to swell when I run and I don't want blisters.  Lovely, I know.

Steph-  I am so impressed with YOU!  Way to take this challenge to a whole other level.  Some people would wallow in their  own frustrations and pity if they were injured, but you sucked it up and focused on what you COULD do, and you made your goal.  So awesome!  Can't wait to hear more about your program and about the people you are helping.  Good luck!

Day 74- 100 Day Challenge

Day 74, ONLY 26 days left...  Not sure what happened to my last two posts!  Never had them just disappear like that before.  How annoying!  I'm leaving most of what I wrote yesterday for those who didn't see Day 73.

Better Health Article: Taste Test- The Best Granola Bars- Every Day with Rachael Ray-  This is for you, Camille!

Ab workout #4- Mountain Climbers.  Great for your entire body, not just your core.

My Daily Update: Brought my new Nike shoes to the gym today and I HATED them.  Couldn't run more than 1/2 mile in them and took them off.  They are going back.  ARGH!  Where are my perfect running shoes?!  The lady at Famous Footwear said "You know with running shoes, it's like Cinderella.  You have to search to find that one perfect pair."  I think she's right.  Gotta keep looking.  I met with my trainer and did some plyometrics and really worked my core and legs.  My left elbow is still hurting and it's driving me crazy!  I want to be able to do upper body but can't because of this.  I'm going to wait it out over the weekend and see how I feel.  If it's still hurting I think I'm going to be calling my sports medicine dr.

My Comments to You:

Camille- The article above is for you.  Haven't tried all those bars but they all look yummy and I want to!  I noticed there is a coupon at Costco this month for Zone Perfect bars.  I've had one of those (think it was peanut butter and chocolate) and really liked it.  Let me know which ones you try and what you think.

Whit-  I know what you mean.  I like exercising with people, but as long as we don't all have to keep the same paces.  I had a funny moment in my spin class last Friday which made me realize I probably need to lighten up a little.  The lady who had the bike next to me is an older lady from our Stake.  I've talked with her a couple times and she's very sweet.  Well, immediately I could tell she was kind of a casual, light spinner.  I'm not.  I like to push myself every song.  Halfway into the class she got off her bike, adjusted her pedals, got a drink, then hopped back on.  This whole time I was pushing up this huge climb.  Once she was situated on her bike, she leaned over and asked me something.  I felt like I was literally kicked out of my zone and I glanced up at her (with probably crazy adrenaline-filled eyes) thinking "You should be spinning hard right now!"  The music was really loud so I had to ask her what she said again.  She asked what my calling in my ward was right now.  I was nice and answered back, but in my head I was thinking "Be quiet.  Can't talk.  Must push."  I know, I'm a little too crazy sometimes.  If it helps, I did talk to her after the class was over so we're all good. ;)  Sorry guys.  When I'm in the zone, I'm in the zone.  Don't judge me.  I know I get a little intense but that's just how I roll.

Better Health Article: Taste Test- The Best Granola Bars- Every Day with Rachael Ray-  This is for you, Camille!

Ab workout #4- Mountain Climbers.  Great for your entire body, not just your core.

My Daily Update: Did Body Combat at the gym today.  Felt pretty good.  My left arm is still hurting so I had to go easier on that side.  The last 5 minutes of combat we were supposed to do hovers, then mountain climbers to the side, then in the middle.  Yeah, couldn't do that.  Instead I just got in plank position on my elbows and that was fine.  The weight bearing down on my left arm was too much when I tried the hovers.  Argh!  This better not be anything serious and hopefully it's all better in a couple days.  Crossing my fingers!

Day 72- 100 Day Challenge

Day 72, ONLY 28 days left...  We're getting down to the end.  Make EVERY DAY count!
The Google spreadsheet is HERE.  Click on it and make sure to put an X on the days you follow through.

Better Health Article: Best Deodorant and Antiperspirant- Deodorant Reviews-  I sweat.  I seem to sweat more than the average woman.  I've tried a few deodorants (regular Secret, Tom's, even broke down and used Jake's RightGuard for awhile.)  Nothing has helped.  I decided I might have to spend more than $3 or $4, so decided to give Secret Clinical Strength Antiperspirant- Fresh Water Orchid Scent a try.  I've noticed a decrease in my sweating and when I do sweat, I smell really GOOD!  Love the orchid scent.  Just wondering what kinds of deodorant you guys swear by?

Ab workout #3- Some ab exercises that you don't normally think of as "ab exercises".  I've done all of them (besides the kettlebell one at the end) and I know they definitely tone and strengthen your core. (Double Click on video to make it full screen)

My Daily Update: I ran 5 miles today, my longest run since my surgery.  I was pretty proud of myself when the treadmill hit 5.0.  I started the first mile slower at 5.8mph, and upped it to 5.9, then 6.0 when I hit 2.5 miles.  I did jump off the treadmill three times for about 30 seconds to take a swig from my water bottle, let my lungs recover a little and my heart rate come down, and stretch my quads, hams, and calves.  Right before I hit mile 3, mile 4, and mile 5, I pumped my speed up to 6.2, then 6.5, and the last .2 at 7.0.  Overall my legs felt great.  I had no pain at all.  WOO HOO!  I was wearing my new Asics and thought they were ok but I'm still not in love with them so they are going back.  I bought some Nikes and plan to try them out on Friday.  After my run I rolled my legs and did abs.

My Comments to You:

Ash- Oh stop it!  You look cute on the video and it's nice to have things explained because most of the time we just do exercises without thinking about form and all that stuff.  I liked it, so stop it.  Way to run the whole 5K (by the way, it's 3.1 so you ran an extra .1 and if I bet you would have got it under 31 if you hadn't run that last .1)  That same thing happens to me, the longer I run the slower I go.  My Hobble Creek Half I did 2 years ago felt so good the first 8 or 9 miles.  I started to run out of juice and by mile 11 I was going so slow.  I could have got under 2 hours but mentally I was spent.  32 minutes is nothing to be upset about.  You're way faster than you were 2 months ago and progress is all that matters.  Have you been doing any speed work recently?  I would also run with my friend, too, especially since you've been training together and you convinced her to do it.  Have fun!  Can't wait to hear all about it!

Whit- So proud of you!  Are you running with anyone or going by yourself?

Kristy- I totally know how life gets in the way of our goals.  The important thing is, you get back to it, which you definitely are doing.  I'm just glad you're still coming back and being apart of this.  Reminds me of the good ol' days at the Fieldhouse, and when I flaked on you at that half marathon. ;)  Someday we WILL run a race together, once you guys move to Idaho.  Have you had any serious buyers yet on your house?
